Rock 'n' Roll
Go Cactus
Go Cactus, the young Balearic band formed by Pau Gual (vocals and guitar), Joan Gual (drums and backing vocals) and Joan Amengual (bass and backing vocals), has never stopped navigating the waters of rock ’n’ roll since 2017. Their music is both passionate and unpretentious; for them, the band is a way to release energy and find emotional relief. A sharp and elegant power trio — two brothers and a cousin, three hawks in the sky.
Their first EP releases (“Hi, we are Cactus”, Blau Produccions, 2017; “Just For Tonight”, The John Colby Sect, 2019), recorded and produced by Paco Loco, lie on a framework of fuzz and undulating riffs in the purest garage-surf style.
In 2020 they released two more EPs, recorded in New York (“Pulaski Street”, BMG, 2020 and “Would You Hold My Hand”, BMG, 2020), working with Matt and Rocío Verta Ray at N.Y. HED Studio
In 2022, they released their first full-length album (“We Have Wasted The Chance But We Are Fine”, BMG, 2022), recorded at La Mina Studios with Raúl Pérez. On this record one can hear a change in their sound—a journey toward a more polished style, an LP where day and night converge in a call to youth.
In September 2024, they made their debut in Spanish and released their second album (“Plaza Patines”, 2024). Once again they brought in Raúl Pérez to produce and record an absorbing LP—simple yet infinitely referential, a burst of melodies impossible not to sing along to. They have been presenting the album on stages across Spain and were selected to play four showcases at SXSW in Austin, Texas (USA)
The live show of this Mallorcan band is energetic, full of sweat, dancing and explosive song endings—an intoxicating cocktail they have perfected over more than 150 concerts. Nationally, their appearances at Monkey Week, Bime, Mallorca Live Festival, Cranc Festival, and Gambeat Weekend stand out. They have also repeatedly played in England and Portugal, and crossed the Atlantic to perform at the New Colossus Festival in New York (in 2019 and 2020) and SXSW in Texas (in 2019 and 2025)
