Like every year, ‘Shake Your Belly’ returns to RADIO CITY VLC, the annual event with belly dancing in our room with the students of the ‘Sara Guirado Dance School’, in which the students and teacher perform a showcase of the different types of dance that are taught at school. Doors open at 6:45 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. and includes drinks
Sara Guirado is a reference figure in bellydance and a pioneer in the introduction of oriental dance in the theaters of Spain. Her work as a choreographer has led her to achieve successes such as “Historias del Harem”, a proposal that combines tradition and renewal in oriental dance that has received great acceptance from both the public and critics.
Known in the media as “the viral dancer” or “the most famous dancer in the world” after one of her YouTube videos became the most viewed worldwide within the belly dance category, adding more than 45 million of visualizations. Sara has performed and taught workshops around the world. Naturally restless and curious, she has shared her art on stages and schools in the US, Egypt, Cuba, Brazil, South Africa, Thailand, Seychelles and various European countries, dancing at dance festivals, music festivals, or at macro events like when she was hired. by Sean Penn as guest artist at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris. Sara’s repertoire includes everything from Arabic folklore to the most contemporary Eastern fusions, and draws on other disciplines such as flamenco, classical Indian dance, percussion, zaar and dervish turn, in which she has not stopped training, researching and experimenting since start your career. Her passion, curiosity, discipline and love for her art have made her a firm defender of the power of dance as a vehicle for personal improvement and self-knowledge. Her artistic discourse, far from stereotypes, is based on a strong commitment and a demand for innovation in belly dance without losing the connection with roots and traditions.
Sara combines her career as a dancer and choreographer with her role as a teacher. She runs her own school which is located in the Patraix neighborhood of the city of Valencia, ‘Escuela de Danza Sara Guirado’.
